The environment, conditions, seems to have the biggest say what is required - and you try to adapt by using the toolkit you’ve carried with you to stay above the surface. Some of the tools have been there since the day one. Some of the tools you have discovered on your own – by experiencing, living your own life. And some of the tools you have gotten from your friends and people around you (cause they’ve lived and shared, and most importantly, you’ve paid attention).
However, the toolkit can get too heavy. You’ve prepared for everything, you expect the worst, you sharpen the tools and practice them.. Cause anything and everything can happen! What a stress, says 50 percent of the people. What a stress if you are not equipped, shouts the other half. Whatever the case I’m sure those carrying heavy luggage have faced serious matters in their life. And, of course, there are those who do not change the tools but repeat the same pattern time after time without revisiting the contents of their kit. With heavier toolkit, you’ve learned as well.
I feel the pressure to change my toolkit. The same way you want to get rid of specific color from your wardrobe (whatever the reason behind it or no particular reason at all). I feel I should straighten my naturally curly hair and change some pieces of me in the same way. Mutkat suoriksi, in Finnish. More black and whiteness. Less never-ending understanding. Less angles.
Perhaps the most important ingredient of all could be added also: ignorance of recognition. It’s always a decision, you know. My toolkit is quite full and I’m very able and willing to put things to the freezer, when I need to concentrate on something else (read: when life requires my attention elsewhere no matter how many things on my full agenda). Honestly, I know that the issues have to be taken from the freezer someday – and the stuff is as fresh as it was on that day I closed the door. But after trying everything you have (and not only twice), every tool (including the bad ones, and the worst, those you thought would not even exists) you consider to put yourself in the coldness together with the issues. Cause you do not have tools to fight back and you do not have means to give up.
When the autumn comes shadows are taller, wind more demanding and leaves change their color.. For me, the perfect time to spread arms and study my readiness.. That is when you’re feeling warm again in low temperature with your new thicker socks and boots, wearing your woolen hat, squeezing your fists and take the steps either towards the wind or you just go with it. Whenever you are ready. Environment changes, but you remain with your a bit heavier toolkit. Your inner you is safe in the freezer. True you. Whatever that means tomorrow.
